This Weekend: Embassy Tours and Spring Fest

EU Embassies Open House

May 14, 2016

On May 14th, 2016 the European Union Embassies and the EU Delegation to the United States will open their doors to the public for the annual EU Embassies’ Open House: a day of family fun, food, culture and more. The event offers visitors a rare look inside the embassies and provides a unique opportunity for experiencing the cultural heritage and national traditions of the 28 member countries.

Washington, DC boasts more than 175 foreign embassies, residences, chanceries, and diplomatic missions. An embassy is the official mission through which one country conducts their foreign affairs in another country. Many of the embassies in Washington, DC are housed in beautiful historic buildings, occupying former residential row houses or small mansions. Embassy Row refers to a part of the city where many of the foreign embassies are located, along Massachusetts Avenue near Dupont Circle.

The tours are free and most are within walking distance of each other. It is a really cool and inexpensive way to learn about other countries, and then plan a trip there of course.  Here is a downloadable map of who, what, and where.
