Reopening of the Renwick Gallery

November 13, 2015 l 10 am-5:30 pm

Perhaps the most anticipated event happening this weekend is the reopening of the Renwick Gallery and their featured exhibit, ‘WONDER‘.

After two years of renovations, the Renwick Gallery will reopen to the public on Friday. Nine artists have each taken over a different gallery in the redesigned Renwick, using the first building to be constructed as a museum of art in the U.S. as their inspiration. Expect a variety of different installations, depicting everything from geometric designs to colorful insects, which will turn the gallery best known for displaying famous art into a work of art itself.

The Handi-Hour Craft Beer & Crafting event on Friday is sold out but there is a free Opening Festival taking place all day on Saturday, 11/14.  Get more info on the schedule of events here.

Newseum

Newseum Exhibit ‘Inside Today’s FBI’

November 14, 2015 l 9 am-5 pm

One of the most popular exhibits in Newseum’s history reopens with new additions detailing the FBI’s efforts to combat terrorism and cybercrime. New artifacts include remnants from the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing will be on display, as well as popular artifacts from the previous iteration of the exhibit, including the Unabomber’s cabin and engine parts from United Airlines Flight 175, which tragically crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see it, make it a priority on your list.  The Newseum isn’t free but it is fascinating and well worth the $22.95 (+ tax) admission. Tickets to the Newseum can be purchased here.

EmporiYUM

Emporiyum Union Market

November 14th & 15th l 10 am-4 pm

If you are a food, drink, and DJ lover then you should go ahead and buy your general admission tickets for Emporiyum at Union Market.  There is a massive list of local food and drink vendors that will have samples available while you browse through some pretty cool gift ideas. A DJ will be spinning some tunes as well, so it is sure to be a good time.

VIP tickets are sold out for Saturday and Sunday but there are general admission tickets available for both days. Entry time varies based upon your ticket purchase.  Tickets start at $15 and you can get those here.

FotoWeek continues with tons of exhibits and events this weekend. For those who simply can’t wait for winter, the Sculpture Garden will finally open their ice rink up for the season in addition to Georgetown’s ice rink which opened last weekend.
