This Weekend: Countdown to Halloween in the City


Halloween festivities are all over town this weekend. For fast casual fun, check out Chipotle and Pete’s New Haven Style Pizza and Pizza Paradiso. For a boozy night, check out the DC Halloween Crawl, Nightmare on M St Crawl or Clarendon Halloween Crawl. The Exorcist Steps Commemoration

The Exorciexorcistst Steps Commemoration is a special collaboration between the Dupont Festival, Academy Award winning director William Friedkin, Academy Award winning screenwriter William Peter Blatty, Andrew Huff, the D.C. Office of Motion Picture & Television Development, the Executive Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser and Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans.

From 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., the public will have a chance to meet meet William Friedkin at the top of the iconic Exorcist steps in Georgetown. Bring something for him to sign (limit one item per person). Then, a plaque unveiling ceremony at the bottom of the stairs will join William Friedkin, William Peter Blatty, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans, & Georgetown University President Jack DeGioia. The event will end with an invitation only screening of the film.

Night of the Living Zoo

nightofzooThe Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s adults-only Halloween event, Night of the Living Zoo runs Friday from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. The event will feature live music, craft beer, food trucks, a costume contest, performance artists, and DJ Squirrel spinning spooky beats.

General admission tickets start at $20 for Friends of the National Zoo members and $30 for non-members.

Proceeds from Night of the Living Zoo benefit animal care and conservation at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and around the world.
