American Fine Craft Show

Friday, Oct. 23 – Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015

americancraftThe American Fine Craft Show will feature 195 fine crafts and fine artists, benefiting the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

The event will take place at the DC Armory and artisans’ work will include furniture, ceramics, wood, glass, jewelry, wearable and decorative art.

There will be a “First Look” preview on Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. which will include early shopping, demonstrations, a fashion show and lectures plus a ceremony where a Craftswoman Recognition honor will be announced. Tickets for this preview event are $22 and can be purchased at the door.

Saturday, the show will be open from 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Admission tickets will be sold only at the door at $14 per adult, $13 for seniors (64+), students $8 (with valid I.D.), children under 12 are free. A two day pass is $16.

Smithsonian Food History Festival

smithsonianfoodhistoryAs part of the Smithsonian Food History Weekend, the National Museum of American History is hosting a free day-long festival for families, students, food-enthusiasts and history buffs. 

From 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., the event will feature live cooking demonstrations, hands-on learning, film screenings, curator-led tours, activities in the Victory Garden and the chance to meet culinary stars and experts such as chefs from Pati’s Mexican Table, Red Apron Butchery, Cakelove and more.

Metro Cooking DC Show

Saturday, Oct. 24 – Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015

metrocookingSome of the biggest names in the culinary world will grace the stage at the 2015 Metro Cooking Show at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Some of those headliners include Giada De Laurentiis, Michael Symon, Bryan Voltaggio, and Christina Tosi.

The event will also feature cooking lessons, more than 50 restaurants offering signature tastes, entertaining workshops, shopping opportunities from over 300 specialty food exhibitors and more.

Dandies & Quaintrelles DC Tweed Ride & Jazz Age Jam

tweedrideJoin hundreds of the city’s most stylish cyclists at the 7th annual DC Tweed Ride & Jazz-Age Jam, featuring an after-ride party at Roofers Union, with Dandy Wellington and His Band.

The ride will begin around 1:00 p.m. at a secret meeting place (you’ll get an email with an exact location on Oct. 23), then you’ll cruise through the city,and party in classic dandy style.

The party from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. will also feature burlesque entertainment, the Fidgety Feet Dancers, food, drinks and more.
