We recently dedicated a post to an update on DC’s liquor scene, which over the last year have been significant and exciting for our small city. But DC’s craft beer scene is even stronger and worthier of some blog time. And considering that we are approaching long summer months of (hopefully) beer garden sitting and stoop sippin’, now is a great time for a little craft beer news, as well as a rundown on DC’s upcoming beer fests.
While most of our local brewers are flourishing, we lost a comrade a few months ago: Chocolate City Brewing Company shut its doors at the end of 2014. Whether or not you enjoyed beers from CCB—a tiny operation that was, unfortunately, plagued with quality control issues—it’s sad to say goodbye to one of the forerunners of the now booming scene.
Meanwhile, all the usual suspects—DC Brau, 3 Stars Brewing Co., Right Proper Brewing Company, Bluejacket and Atlas Brew Works—are busy expanding, distributing and launching summer concoctions (see: DC Brau’s El Hefe returns).
For information about upcoming beer fests, in order of appearance, read on…
