travelshowThis Saturday and Sunday, The Washington, DC Travel & Adventure Show arrives at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The event will feature travel experts on 3 different stages including Rick Steves, Pauline Frommer, Samantha Brown, Patricia Schultz and Josh Gates.

New this year, the show will debut the Savvy Traveler Theater where visitors can learn the best how-to tips on traveling smarter and more hassle-free.

A an event favorite, The Destination Theater, will highlight destination-specific seminars where guests can draw inspiration and get detailed information about the world’s most sought-after travel destinations including Australia & New Zealand, Oceania and the South Pacific, Alaska, Cruising, Culinary and Volunteer Vacations and even yacht charters.

Saturday’s lineup is from 10:00am – 5:00pm and Sunday’s from 10:30am – 4:00pm. Single Day Tickets – Adults:  $11 ($16 at the door); Two Day Tickets – Adults:  $17 ($25 at the door); Children 16-and-under are free with a paid adult.

Brewer’s Ball DC 2015

brewersballThis Saturday, the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosts the D.C. Brewer’s Ball Presented by The Beer Institute and Groupon.

This craft beer event of the season takes place at the National Building Museum from 7:00pm – 12:00am.

One pint at a time, the event is set up to serve hope by raising funds to support programs and research on Cystic Fibrosis, a life-threatening disease that affects about 30,000 people in the United States.

Participating breweries, brands and restaurants include Bluejacket, Mad Fox Brewery, Port City, Heavy Seas and Flying Dog, Dogfish Head, Goose Island, Ommegang, Lagunitas, Matchbox, Ted Bulletin, H Street’s Granville Moore’s and Meridian Pint.

Not a beer fan? No worries, Total Wine & More will offer wine selections and the Cocktail Guru will be pouring a beer-inspired cocktail & delicious mocktail for the designated drivers.

A silent auction will include hundreds of items from beer baskets to one of a kind experiences and exotic trips. A live band, the VIPS, will be keeping attendees energized and dancing the night away!

Pickled, Braised, and Brewed: The Art of Slow Food

pickledbraisedThis Sunday, New Belgium hosts an afternoon of slow food, slow ceramics and craft beer from 1:00pm – 4:30pm at Mess Hall —  703 Edgwood St. NE. In this beer session (Slow Ride IPA) they’re partnering with local chefs to provide hands-on education on the art behind pickling, braised meats, ceramics and  beer.

Ready to taste will be bites from the chefs of Gordy’s Pickle Jar and Mason Dixie Biscuit Co.

Ticket Cost are $45 and include two beers (Slow Ride), one biscuit sandwich and slow meat tasting, and two chef demonstrations, including one hands-on session with a jar of pickles to take home.

Ticket sales support our non-profit partner, CulturalDC, which serves to provide space and resources for emerging artists in the Washington, DC area.
