smilefestThis Saturday, Broccoli City brings smiles to families across the city in their second annual Smile Project Carnival in preparation for the new school year. From 12:00pm until 7:00pm at the Gateway DC Pavilion, the event will supply school essentials such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, books, water bottles, lunch boxes, calculators, and other useful tools and information for learning (while supplies last).

Students will also enjoy rides, games, moon bounce obstacle courses, giant slides, water activities, rock climbing, live music, healthy eating demonstrations, food trucks, vendors, and much more!

Connect.DC Technology Scavenger Hunt

scavengerhuntThis Saturday, connect with D.C.’s Wards 7 & 8 like never before! The DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer and community partners host the Connect.DC Technology Scavenger Hunt from 11:00am – 4:00pm.

The event is a free “Amazing Race”-style dash through the Benning/Marshall Heights and Anacostia/Hillsdale/Barry Farm communities. Participants will receive challenges and must follow directions using speed, technology and strategy to win the race.

At the kick off and finish lines (OCTO Headquarters – 200 I Street, SE / Canal Park), participants and other DC residents will have opportunities to engage with citywide partners to learn about other digital citizenship-related services in the District. Music, entertainment, food, face painting and other resources will also liven up the event.

Mojito March DC

mojitomarchWho wouldn’t enjoy a couple (or in this case, several) mojitos on a sunny summer afternoon? This Saturday, you can enjoy specialty mojitos at participating bars in Dupont Circle as part of an epic, all day rum adventure.

Participating venues include: Cafe Citron, Mission – Dupont Circle, Madhatter, Buffalo Billiards DC, The Board Room DC and Front Page DC.

Tickets are $50 and include six speciality mojitos and specials on food and beer pairings. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Dreams for Kids DC.

Check-in is from 12:00pm – 3:00pm and event lasts until 10:00pm.

Xposed at the Blind Whino

xposedThis Saturday, NERDnation hosts XPOSED at The Blind Whino in SW DC. From 7:00pm until Midnight, guests will have a unique opportunity to meet DC artists and their supporters for mixing and mingling.

Attendees will receive exclusive access to The Blind Whino, where they will enjoy a live ensemble of musical and lyrical performers, a gallery of art produced by DC artists, NERD Bags, vendor shopping, photo booth, cash bar and much more.
